Volunteers
Below is the list of volunteer opportunities available for ATLL. (not in any order of importance!)
ATLL is an All-Volunteer organization. Volunteers fill vital roles for our teams and are key to creating a successful team dynamic through-out the season.
Description: Each Manager is interviewed and selected by the Board. The Manager has total responsibility for their team and the overall welfare of all player oriented activities.
Managers place emphasis on teaching baseball skills and sportsmanship to their players, regardless of talent. Managers are required to always display good sportsmanship in their dealings with parents, other managers and coaches, and umpires. Managers may select up to two coaches and one umpire to assist with their team. Managers are required to assist the League with tryouts sessions in support of the Player Agent. Managers must conduct at least one parents’ meeting.
Components: The Team Manager is responsible for, but not limited to --
1) Learn ALL applicable Little League rules as well as ATLL local rules and be able to articulate them on the field during play
2) Attend all necessary training sessions and assigned game schedules
3) Guide the functional skills training and strategy points of team at large which in addition to the players may include asst coaches and umpires
4) Keep composure while dealing with players, coaches, managers, and parents, umpires or anyone else associated with ATLL
5) Provide appropriate leadership on the field at all times
Description: Assistant Coaches primary responsibilities are assisting the manager with player instruction, safety, sportsmanship and development of team play.
Components: The Asst. Coach is responsible for, but not limited to --
1) Learn ALL applicable Little League rules as well as ATLL local rules and be able to articulate them on the field during play
2) Attend all necessary training sessions and assigned game schedules
3) Guide the functional skills training of team at directed by Team Manager
4) Keep composure while dealing with players, coaches, managers, and parents, umpires or anyone else associated with ATLL
5) Provide appropriate leadership on the field at all times.
Description: Keep the team’s official scorebook during games. An online reference at atll.org can provide training if necessary. This is for levels AAA and above.
Components: The Team Score Keeper is responsible for, but not limited to --
1) Learn ALL the rules of statistics tracking documented during game
2) Attend all necessary training sessions and assigned game schedules
3) Provide accurate, real-time information during the games
4) Coordinate with opposing team’s score keeper
5) Settle any disputes in a cooperative manner
Description: The Team Umpire is the person charged with officiating the game, including beginning and ending the game, enforcing the rules of the game and the grounds, making judgment calls on plays, and handling any disciplinary actions.
Components: The Team Umpire is responsible for, but not limited to --
1) Learn ALL the rules of the game for the assigned division and be able to articulate them on the field during play
2) Attend all necessary training sessions and assigned game schedules
3) Keep composure while dealing with players, coaches, managers, and parents
4) Provide appropriate leadership on the field prior to, during, and after the game
5) Take each game seriously, but on their own individual merit
Description: This role is the Administrative conduit, or liaison, between the Manager, League, and their assigned Team. The Team Parent role allows the Manager to focus on baseball training of the team players without being encumbered with all of the administrative tasks associated with being responsible for the team at large. Components of role may vary depending on Manager preferences.
Components: The Team Parent is responsible for, but not limited to --
1) Supporting the Team Manager with Team communications -- Practice/Game reminders, and Cancellation/Reschedule info etc,
2) Providing ATLL updates as warranted (Opening Day info, Kid-Glove Games, Holiday Parades, Pictures etc.),
3) Keeping the Team roster updated with current names, phone numbers, and email addresses,
4) Collection of medical release forms, fee payments, uniform distribution/collection,
5) Providing snack list to team parents. (Examples and templates are available for download at atll.org under FORMS.)
Description: ATLL Opening Day festivities signify the official start of the Spring Season for League play. Typically held on the 3rd Saturday in April, it is an event enjoyed by all who attend! A parade of teams, special guest speakers, concessions, and merchandise sales are all just a part of the success of the day. In assuming an opening day volunteer role - you will not only be assisting in the needs of the day, but will also be helping to set the tone for the season!
Components: Areas of need include the following:

Concessions Leader and Team:

Responsible for delegating volunteers, getting donations (Kroger, Dunkin Donuts, etc), establish concession pricing, etc.

Set up parking, with volunteers, getting cones from transportation, signs.

Responsible for designing, ordering and distributing Opening Day programs

Decorations Leader and Team:

Responsible for ordering and distributing balloons

Split the Po Leader and Team:
|
Responsible for purchasing tickets and delegating to volunteers where to sell and keeping track of money.

Description: ATLL Picture Day is scheduled in late April on a Saturday and Sunday at the start of the Spring Season. In assuming this volunteer role – you will be assisting the league in capturing team memories!
Components: Areas of need include the following:
1) Assist in form and fee collection on day of event
2) Assist in team organization to ensure orderly process
3) Assist in photo delivery 3 weeks after the pictures have been taken
Description: ATLL Player Evaluation takes place is designed to evaluate skill level and to provide proper team placement based on said evaluations. Predominately for players new to ATLL, but also open by invitation to existing players needing additional team assignment review.
Components: Areas of need include the following:
1) Commit to attend session on February 14 or 22 at Champions facility.
2) Work a skill based station to assist in player registration
Description: Assist with the filling and organizing of the Uniform Bins and the Equipment bags.
Description: Participate in two person teams to line the baselines of ATLL fields every Saturday during the Spring Season.
